The TIGER WOODS of Selling a home!

You hear a lot these days of how the real estate market is in real trouble.  If you listen to the national media you think no homes are selling.  The truth is, as stated in my blog many times, real estate is local.  I mention that again because I don’t want to create false hope for people not in the San Antonio Real Estate market.  This blog post is about my market.  It is about selling homes in San Antonio!  So how do you sell your home if the market has slowed and the guy across the street from you has a house similar to yours that has been sitting on the market for months?  YOU BECOME THE TIGER WOODS OF SELLING A HOME!

How does one become the Tiger Woods of selling a home?  Well, I’d ask you what is the one thing that Tiger Woods has that is so much more developed than most of his competitors?  A fabulous swing?  I guess so, but the main thing is FOCUS!  He is focused and determined everyday.  He knows his objective.  He makes the goal clear and easy to see and focuses in on it with lazer beam force.  What I’m saying here is you need to be FOCUSED when you sell your home, and you need to have that focus EVERYDAY. 

Tiger Woods has his Drive Swing - You have the Drive up to your house.  Both of you need to be concerned with the approach.  Tiger makes sure his swing is steady and constant, and in doing that it is gorgeous.  You need to make sure the drive up to your house is gorgeous by steadily keeping weeds out of beds and consistently watering your grass.

Tiger Woods has a world class caddy – You need to make sure you have a world class Realtor!  Just as Tiger talks over tweaks in his game and things to consider, you need to do the same with your Realtor!  I can guarantee you Tiger didn’t call up the 1/2 price caddy service when we was looking to put his team together.  He understands the importance of a real pro being by your side during competition, and you better believe you are in some stiff competition when you are selling your house!

Tiger knows the importance of details – You need to also!  Sure Tiger can crush the ball, but I bet you’ve seen some hack at the driving range who can whack the ball way past anyone else.  The safe bet is that your buddy at the driving range may be able to crush the ball, but how is his short game?  Tiger makes sure he is the best at the details, and you need to also!  You see how Tiger looks over the green before he puts the ball?  You need to do the same inside your house!  Walk around it slowly.  Eyeball anything that looks odd, or doesn’t seem to fit your overall style of the house.  Take a long hard look at every aspect of your house just as Tiger looks at every dip in the green.  Your attention to detail will pay off!

Tiger doesn’t just want to win, he wants you to lose!  Unfortunately that is how may have to approach selling your home.  Know what is going on with the other homes around yours and make sure if a prospect enters your neighborhood they will buy your house of your neighbors.  You do this by making sure you have the best deal.  That may be price, it may be that you do something that nobody else is doing, or it may mean that you just make the home buying process easier on them than anyone else.  I even know a guy that will throw in a boat if you buy his house.  There are several plans very similar to his for sale in his neighborhood.  They are all priced similarly so whose would you pick if all other factors were the same?  Be creative and don’t let anyone beat you!

See almost anyone can learn from Tiger.  He is the best at what he does because he is focused, pays attention to detail, and doesn’t let anyone beat him.  If you do the same you should get that house sold in NO TIME!
